bought this sad little Safari Airstream, all decked out in general's stars and olive drab, with an interior in shambles. decided I'd make it over into rolling writer's retreat (Google Sonny Brewer), and do it up in Caribbean colors. New carpet, new light fixtures, solid floor, composting toilet requires no holding tank, new memory foam mattress, new kitchen and bath sinks and fixtures, new tires and new spare, new LG portable air, etc. New Sunbrella awning that stretches out to poles, and canvas that slips out of the track for folding to carry. ditched the propane bottles and most of that system and use electric heat, though the furnace is still in place. Very cool original-era aluminum awnings. Lots of funky custom touches. From the photos, my Leopold Stickley desk, personal art pieces, etc., remains with me. Still some things to do, but mostly there.

The great state of Alabama is non-title state for vehicles of this vintage. I'd advise you to verify this with an online query. do, however, have in my name the Alabama registration documents for the Airstream, and duly notarized bill of sale.

Please read the description, look at the photos, consider my feedback score and years of trading on eBay, then ask any questions before bidding, which is contract to purchase should your bid win the auction. HERE ARE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS FROM BIDDERS IN THE LAST AUCTION. (The winning high bidder didn't comply with the requirement for PAYMENT IN FULL WITHIN DAYS, and cancelled the sale. I'm setting reserve option for less than the amount of the previous winning bid of $8800.

My Airstream is for sale locally, and will cancel this auction if it sells.

The tires on the ground are new trailerradials. The spare is new bias-ply tire. My seller said the bearings were"good to go" and trust he did not misrepresent, since he's an oldfriend. HOWEVER! Inspecting, and repacking bearings is so cheap--even toreplacing inner and outer races and bearings if needed--why would the prudentmariner not do that before setting sail in his land yacht? don't know that the tongue weight of 10 to 11 percent of total weight is spot-on after removing the LP bottles and built-ins from the front end. have only run theAirstream about on local roads, without towing issues. If it's light, until adding back love seat and other items of weight at the front, then solution could be adding up to four 80 bags of five-dollar Sakrete (or sand).
My Airstream is called Safari 22 Twin (at22'8" actual length), but Airstream adds the length of the tongue to theirdesignations, so the living space is about 20 feet. Factory specs for thismodel was 3100 pounds. I'm guessing she'dnow weigh 2500-2800 pounds. lived in it for almost three months and experienced no leaks from overhead after patching with spray Flex-Seal around the rooftop plumbing vent. blowing rain sometimes makes its way around the door where the gasket is missing. left untouched soft spot as big as my palm on the subfloor to the left just inside the door. Being sailor, would advise soaking the spot in epoxy, turning the area into hard plastic, so to speak. The door leak is easily addressed, think, with inexpensive self-adhesive weather strip from home improvement retailer. Others would want to use gasket closer to original equipment.

What's left to be done? Some would want last-stage polish; Iwimped out on third go. The price includes the materials and the bigpolisher, supplies, and buffing wheel system bought. If not, final mineralspirit cleaning of oxidation residue in tight places, around the lights, windows, etc. There's taillight bulb out. The rooftop vent over the gasrefrigerator (removed, replaced with cu.ft electric, moved and cut-intogalley side counter) is plastic and cracked and chipped, and should be replaced. tapedwhat's there with aluminum tape, which serves to hold it and prevent leaks.New as original vent $36.99 on eBay. Also, made skylight with the center cheapo opening vent. Youmight want to go back to the other type vent. They're about $25 starting price. TheLG portable AC doesn't chill the space, and I'm not sure what's up with that.I've checked filters and such. On-line see suggestion to recharge thefreon. It has to be done by technician with appropriate tools to pierce thecopper line and then reseal. Not sure how much that'd cost. rooftop AC couldbe put back. see some of those for around $600, not including install, ofcourse. removed the leaky LP hot water heater, planned to hookup an outsideportable LP. Just me, but mistrust the gas inside trailer and prefer electric heatinside since real bad experience years ago on cold moutaintop. The LPfurnace aboard "Flossie" looks new-ish, so left it. Some windowwinders need help, replacing. That's it, think. If remember something else,I'll do "Seller Added" note.
