For sale is my beloved bedford romahome, bought this campervan for festival season and its incredible. However now am after bigger one, hence the sale. It has MOT unit December, all of the advisories from the last mot have been sorted.
The van is in great condition. No rust in the wheel arches or foot wells, body work is great for its years. You can cruise easily at 60 mph. It has manual choke, so to cold start the engine you need to pull it out until the engine temperature has risen before you can push it back in, and it starts reliably. It’s as noisy as to be expected for petrol engine of it’s age. The engine size is just shy of Litre, so with its size and the camper on back it’s best suited to zipping 50 mph across big country roads touring and parking up to sleep. Engine is accessed beneath the two cab seats, and through removable floor panel in the camper van. Camper can be accessed through the rear caravan door. The dash all works, hot and cold blowers, radio, internal and external lights, wipers, horn, etc, and is in great condition. Engine is small easy and simple to fix yourself with spanner and socket. It’s so much fun to drive, real joy, and it does very good to the gallon. Tax for the year is calculated by engine size (pre 2003) which is £160. Insurance is extremely cheap as well. All in all it is very economical vehicle which can (and has been) be used as day car due to the low costs involved.
The camper is in great condition. The bodywork is solid and strong and no leaks. Double glazed plastic caravan windows on both sides of the camper which open and lock, small double glazed window on the top of the luton, and the caravan stable door has small double glazed window in each half. There are two caravan legs which wind down at the rear end to stabilise the camper when you want to use it. Small table on pole can be erected to use for eating from or whatever. The hob and grill all work. Sink and 12v lights, and plenty of storage under the seats. Two couches run the length of the camper which can be used as individual beds, but everything folds out to make big double bed the width of the camper. There is storage for food and bits above and under the sink, and there is tiny wardrobe(!! Haha) next to it which can take or full length hangers of clothes. The Luton is great for children, dogs, storage, or even an adult to have knap (I often curl up there comfortably to have siesta with my dog). The camper van is 6’9’’externally, and can stand upright inside the back door (I’m 5’10’’) the headroom decreases slightly as you step up to the seating but still find it comfortable to move about, change clothes, make the bed, etc. Has external storage for two gas bottles, leisure battery, fuel can and to access the fuel tank. Spare wheel under the back, jack in the front.
The camper van is very desirable, niche, kitch, retro, vintage, cute, novel, basically cult classic. It’s nothing speedy, and can be interesting to drive. Absolutely no swift corners or accelerating up hill!! Haha! It is easy to park in cities and towns due to it’s small size, and has surprisingly good visibilty.
