Up for sale is our VW campervan. 1989 Leisuredrive pop-top. 1.9 diesel.I never thought I'd see the day when we parted company with this van but life moves on and things change. Its been true labour of love and has had thousands spent on it over the years, but we've enjoyed every minute of it and will cherish the memories it has given us forever.
The van sleeps four people, two in the pop-top roof and two on the rock-n-roll bed (rear seat). I'm 6'2" and have comfortably slept both upstairs and down!
We've owned the van for just over 10 years, its had previous owners and is MOT'd until May 2020. It has Porsche Boxter Alloys (with Porsche adaptors) and is lowered 50mm all round with an AVO suspension kit from Brickwerks.
The van looks great and drives well and always gets interest where ever it goes.
Originally 1.7 diesel (KY) engine it now has the more reliable and more powerful 1.9 diesel (1Y) engine fitted from Mk3 VW Golf. The engine was replaced in August 2013 at 135,757 miles when the original died after coming back from VW show, The odometer in the van reads 147,656 but the engine has done 35,000 less than this, so about 112,000. This engine had new oil pump, cam belt etc before it was installed. Its good on fuel, we get mid 30's to the gallon and it cruises nicely on the motorways at 65mph. The van has the speed 'dogleg' ASS gearbox fitted as the original failed about years ago.  All tyres are very good with the rears only being replaced in April this year having hardly covered any miles at all.
One key fits all locks and the vehicle is fitted with an alarm/immobiliser. (Spare key/alarm fob included). There is also kenwood radio/CD player fitted to the dash with Kenwood speakers in the front door and JBL speakers fitted in the base of the rear seat. Its Leisure drive so comes with the usual refinements, this van was originally sold from new as campervan, and is not conversion or home made job. It has 3-way fridge which runs on 12Volt battery, gas or 240V mains power. The fridge works well in all modes. There's twin gas hob with grill, sink with 12Volt electric cold tap, 12Volt colour TV with DVD player and loads of storage space. large cold water container and gas bottle are included which are housed in one of the rear storage cupboards. The van is fitted with mains sockets and 12V accessory sockets and can easily camp with no electric on-site with 12V lighting, gas fridge/hob etc.  The front passenger seat has had swivel base fitted to it to make the living area more comfortable and spacious when parked up. We've kept the interior of the van original as that's how we like it although the front seats are becoming bit worn now but still comfortable as can been seen from the photos.
The van underwent full restoration at the end of 2011 as the bodywork was getting bit tired in places. The pop-top was removed and sent away to "Proud to Pop" be re-trimmed and retained the carpet lining on the inside keeping the van nice and warm. lot of welding to replace lower panels was carried out, all rubbers were replaced and the van had full coat of paint (original colour).  We've had this van on an agreed value with Adrian Flux insurance for £9500 so know what its worth although recently the dreaded van rash is starting to return in some places.  Bottom of the N/S 'b' post as pictured starting to bubble, front valance starting to bubble, O/S lower 'b' post showing few bubbles, few small bits here and there, it is eight years since it was done.  All nothing major but will require attention again at some point if you want the van pristine.
I've box file full of receipts for bits and pieces that have been replaced or bought for the van, its been serviced every year thoroughly and has wanted for nothing. Its been kept reliable and has travelled arround France and all of the UK.
Its good honest reliable van and is priced to sell, not haggle. If I'd had the bodywork touched up again it would be couple of grand more. Not looking for swaps or part exchanges, wont deliver the van or send it to the otherside of the world. I'm finding it difficult to sell as it is and would appreciate any genuine potential buyers to come and see the van for themselves first. There are many happy times to be had with this van and it will become part of your family. I'm in no hurry to get rid of it and if it doesn't fetch want want will keep it. Message me for any further info and will try my best to answer any questions
