am offering for sale my 1941 Dennis Light Four Fire Engine, reg no EBJ 852 originally ordered as one of pair for Gipping RDC in 1939 but not delivered until February 1941 due to wartime demand. The vehicle is very original having only covered 11,023 miles from new in her 78 years, hardly travelling outside Suffolk Norfolk.        She was stationed at Debenham, Suffolk throughout WW11 and into the 1950's when she was transferred to Lowestoft Fire Station. Sold out of the Suffolk Ipswich Fire Service in 1967 she gave service as Works Appliance at Cranfields Mills on Ipswich Dock until 1973 when she was presented to retiring director as leaving gift from the company. bought the appliance in 1978 and she has attended many local rallies and events since that date. She has always been dry-stored in local barn and drained down each winter.        The Dennis is in very original condition and comes with an original 30' Ajax Trussed Ladder, Hand Rung Brass Bell, Search Light, Hose Reel with Branch, Suction hoses, Delivery hoses, Standpipe, Key Bar, Foam Branch Pick-up tube, Main Branches and much additional small gear. The Pump is Dennis No pump driven from the road engine and has 350-500 gpm output. hose reel is mounted behind the Cab and fed from an on-board 32 gallon copper water tank. The Engine is Dennis  cylinder Side Valve Petrol Engine and has speed gearbox with overdrive. PTO engages the pump.        The sister of this appliance is currently at the Ipswich Transport Museum, having recently been fully restored after lifetime's service at Needham Market and then with Felixstowe Dock Fire Brigade.        The vehicle weighs just under 3.5 tonnes so can be driven on full car licence, it attracts nil road tax fee and insure it fully comprehensive for less than £100 each year.         Whilst the appliance starts and runs and the pump works fine, however, it has not been used regularly for about three years and the brakes will need "sharpening up" before putting the vehicle back on the road. Low-loader removal will therefore be essential !          This is very original 78 year old vehicle with lots of history (I have copies of the old buff log book, Original Dennis Works Order details, copy of the owners Workshop Manual, etc and day to day log book from 1978 with all journeys, etc.) If you are looking for genuine vintage commercial vehicle on which to do light restoration, then look no further. Clearly, Viewing is recommended she can be viewed by appointment at Brandon, Suffolk (01842 810252) but if you only want to kick the tyres, please don't bother to come.
